GLBT Region?  (United States)

I would like to propose a Gay/Lesbian/Bi/Transgender Region, possibly with assistance from others who participate in these lifestyles.

There are large communities of these types on Sl, and I believe they should also have a prescence here.

I am open to any suggestions concerning this idea, as well as volunteers to help establish and maintain such a region.

you can reply to me here, or IM me in-world on SL under the name crysti Thor, or email to crysti_e@yahoo.com (email please include OpenLife in the subject line)

thanks

Re: GLBT Region?  (Italy)

Actually, a nice idea. :)

SL has become quite important not because of the technology but because of the content.

So communities using OL are very important for OL to take off :)

Is there already a map of communities using OL?

While I understand you need for expression... please understand this is a  PG or 15+ grid. all walks of life or lifestyles are welcome .. but it is not required to be advertised!  Do you want a area that you feel " safe in" or a lable that you can wear? There is no advantage in advertising you gender likes in a region or sim.. and if its for motives other than teen mature ... well there is always seconfd life. Im sure your familliar with it.

But as you correctly mentioned there are some communities tha feel the need to be represented.. hence opensim project.. do a search and knock ya socks off.

Personally . Im here to avoid the BS and politics from SL , to build in total freedom and just enjoy. If you feel you need to have a special group then thats not very open source is it?We are one cool group united by the freedom to build, test, tweek, and crash under the flag of Openlife. Everyone is welcome and no ones special! We are just Openlife! Enjoy

PS that is about as political/groupish as Im going to do ... ever in this world.

Re: GLBT Region?  (United Kingdom)

Personally, I don't really see the need for a region specifically dedicated to a particular group of sexualities or lifestyles: we are already a community and it seems divisive to start separating out into enclaves.

However, if you do feel that such a region is a necessity then go ahead and buy a region and set it up howsoever you wish:  so long as you stay within the 15+ bounds and keep overt sexuality (of any kind) under wraps you can do what you like in your own region.

Re: GLBT Region?  (United States)
I second that opinion.... Open Life should not become a political forum. I have no problem with what people of any orientation do in the privacy of their bedrooms, but there is no reason to bring what should be in the bedroom between consenting adults (or furries) into the public forum. As Violet said, we don't need to be breaking into factions. You may of course buy a region and use it to promote any agenda you wish as long as it is within the TOS and standards of the community, but I see no reason to start lobbying for Open Life to pay for or endorse such an endeavor.

And I'll second Osiris. No need for that. Go ahead, buy a region, promote your own thing as long as it is within the TOS. Things like this would only force us to look at that sort of thing rather than remain as united or unified as we are. Let's not break us into any other factions. Being separate from SL is enough for me. OLG is not about promoting any specific lifestyle or preference.
