Re: GLBT Region?

Ouch! I don't see how a rather innocent suggestion for a GLBT focused area turns into a sexual content issue. There are plenty of GLBT social venues elsewhere on the web, and yes even in SL, that have little or nothing to do with sex. It was a fair but fuzzy suggestion that Chaz clarified.

Like in RL, GLBT areas in SL are indeed often better kept, have higher quality traffic and are good neighbours. If a GLBT regioon was to come next to mine, I would be both relieved to know it is likely to look good and likely to bring me business.

On SL, we have a meeting and information area for the bisexual community that many find useful. And no, there are no poseballs, no toys for sale. That parcel is PG to the eyes of any visitor not afflicted with social bias.

Re: GLBT Region?

I wonder what are the rules for club and meeting places with XX rated contents? In your home or skybox it's okay, but what if the skybox is a club? Is that allowed? Or a shop? I would love an 18+/mature warning area, so people can make safe places where no minors come. I love wearing a skimpy dress in SL, would love to do it here too, (or less) but you know people who would find it offensive wouldnt have to come in and find out.

Re: GLBT Region?

I have no problem with those of varying sexualities and/or temperments, however I do agree with Sakai's policy in that the groups infered within can become excusionary of those not of the same group, if not the group then individuals of a group if given there own "Place" to be safe. As such it is unfair to everyone to basicly pay for a region that they may be excluded from.

Re: GLBT Region?

Absolutely agree with that statement. In the context of GLBT, that community usually uses such spaces (in VW and in RL) not as a shelter from the rest of the world, but rather as a mean to promote a better understanding and perception of their diversity. As such, their community areas generally seek to attract the community as a whole.

In the same way we see it happening in predominently gay/lesbien RL communities with cultural events.
