What is this and how does it work?
An media URL is typically a video stream.
An Audio URL is typically an audio stream.
So what is this shoudcast stuff, and what are we talking about?
Shoucast is a method used for redistributing a 'stream' ie. Audio to multiple different computers at the same time.
One example would be if I was talking into a microphone I could send this to a 'shoutcast' server. This server would then redistribute my talking to multiple other computers 'listening' to me.
These other computers would hear my talking at relatively the same time.
The same can be done for live music/ presentation audio/ mp3's etc.
Tell me how this would be good to me as a region holder?
Openlife would provide you a stream capable of being redistributed to 4 other computers at the same time for free. (Larger numbers may have a small cost but we haven't pricing at this time).
You could then use this for presentations, live performances or just listening to a tune in your own region.
We are about to publish more information about this in the region toolbox shortly.
Kind Regards,
