The method is a little different to perhaps what you aer useful. However the successful way to do it is.

Create new in inventory first. Then Wear the new Item. Then Edit (save when finsihed).

The same is done with body parts. See wiki for more pictures there's also some in welcome Island.

Yes, I saw the skin textures. Based on the names, I am assuming they are Eloh Elliot's "Another" textures? I don't know how to take those textures and make a skin, can it be done within the game, or do I have to go to Photoshop?

Is there a listing of freebie locations? Has anyone established stores yet? or is everything still on a freebie basis?

The Island I came in on was completely empty except for a palm tree. I didn't know where else to go to find other people and places. Can anyone suggest some good public places? Especially art.

And how do I get my gravatar to display under my name on the left column of the forums? I have it for Chat Rooms, bot I can't figure out how to do it for Forums.

To use the skins from the Library, first you will need to create a fresh skin in your inventory as I dont think you can edit the one you start in. Then edit your skin in the Appearance menu, and load up the Head, Upper, and Lower body tattoo menus. Then just select which skins you want to use for each respective part of your body. A bit of a round-about way, but its really the only way to make custom skins for SL/OL.

Yes, Princess Ivory there is a freebie tower in the Quartz region, between Sunshine and Crystal and Utopia. Anyone can leave freebies for everyone else and anyone is welcome to take copies of the freebies already there.  Quartz is a region North and a few regions East of Sandbox.
