should the Linden$ be our currency? if at all?
pros: integration with second life economy and other worlds if needed, ease of transactions with SL for SL content (also a con)
cons: if yes, then will OLG be subjected to same laws that the US is starting to put on SL? defining linden as real money or fictional money.. what about patent rights on the linden dollar? if we have currency that is tradeable with real money what are the legal implications??should our economy be all internal, where we serve as an advertising or communication platform only?
i was watching a forum on SLCN.tv last night, very interesting, many bank owners were there. SL made a policy to make it illegal to collect interest on linden loans in world, if they are not a true bank. but a question was raised as to whether real banks would be able to come into SL and the general mood was yes, they want them, and yes Linden Labs would probably allow it all, as long as it was legal by US standards.
Since OLG is based in Austrailia, wil the laws be different for open life and how as far as currency? this makes me think that we shouldnt use the linden dollar because exchange between OLG and SL would be akin to trading american to austrailian currency.
any comments? discussion?
